The Adventures of One Woman's Journey Into Motherhood

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

on January 1, 2013

Recently Noah Daniel had his 16-month birthday. And what a month it’s been! Noah has been on the move now more than ever before!

We recently found a children’s website called Storybots that allows you to put a picture into a music video. Noah is FASCINATED with seeing himself dancing around on the screen! He’s even started dancing when they’re playing. He learned quickly that the TV brings Storybots. So I try not to play them for him more than once or twice a week. I’d rather he use his imagination and play with the toys he already has rather than veg out to something on TV.

We had fun picking out our Christmas tree this year. We went on a Wednesday afternoon, which worked out great because there wasn’t another soul at the tree farm! Noah had fun but didn’t really understand what we were doing. And then, when we put the tree in the car, he kept staring at it and grunting.

Thankfully, once the tree was up in the house, he really didn’t bother it too much. We told him it was off limits as soon as it went up and he’s pretty much left it alone. The presents were not much trouble for him as well. In fact, we had to do some convincing to get him to open his presents on Christmas.

As strange as it sounds, we’ve only had the tree up for two weeks and I’m super ready to have it down. I guess our house gets so much smaller when there’s a tree in the study. We’ve had his stuff stuck in various places throughout the house. I’m just ready to put our house back in order again. 😛

Noah is definitely getting taller. Things he couldn’t reach before are now well within his grasp. Even stuff on the desk, he can reach up and find it with his little hands. I love seeing him on his tiptoes trying to find something in a chair or counter. Doesn’t happen often but he knows that his tiptoes work well to see more.

And Mr. Curious always wants to know what I’m doing, whether it’s typing a blog or using the bathroom. He’s just taking in everything that’s going on around him right now. And he’s learning how to communicate better with us.

No, he’s not talking yet. But I know he will be soon enough. He does understand us when we ask him questions. He flaps his arms to everything that he wants to do/eat/see. Sometimes he looks like a bird trying to take flight for the first time because he’ll just stand and flap his arms for unknown reasons.

We got a book about the alphabet and I started singing the alphabet song to him. It’s not the first time I’ve sung it to him, but suddenly he decided that he loves to hear and SEE the alphabet. So I’ll point to each letter and sing the song. Thankfully, I told Joel about it. Noah gave the book to Joel to read and kept flapping his arms when he got to the end with the whole alphabet. Joel finally figured it out and started singing the song to him as well.

This Christmas was definitely much more fun than last because Noah could interact with us. We’ve enjoyed the season, but I’ll be really happy to get back to some normalcy soon.

I pray you have a very blessed and happy New Year! I know this year is going to bring exciting things for each of us. I have so much to be thankful for this past year. Looking forward to many more thankful moments in the future!  Blessings!!!
